The 6th edition of Nothing Under The Sun aired originally on WESU at 2-3AM on November 24, 2010.
On this edition of Nothing Under The Sun I have found myself neck deep in soundtrack worthy sounds. I revisit a couple artists I’ve played before working collaboratively. On the broadcast my voice is even more minimal than usual. Follow along here and read up on these acts as we travel at the speed of time.
First up, Scorpion Violente off of the Uberschleiss album on Avant! Records. We hear a pair of tracks from this minimal dark electronic act. The disco of dark alleys is just the doorway to deeper sounds.
We continue on to a remixed track from The LAZΣ. This 7 member consortium of music organizers proudly proclaims their sound as Psycience Fiction Prog Cheese.
Next up, Ensemble Economique brings a piece of dissonant drone evoking peace.
On Earth, in London, Standard Planets assemble to make symphonic sounds.
I must be honest, only after doing a quick Wiki search did I realize what the name Xander Harris referenced. I will let you find out on your own as well (if you don’t already I suggest not checking; it’s anti-climactic). The EBM soundscape artist known as Xander Harris brings us the next sounds off his release on 7 Point Records.
After getting a bit upbeat (though maybe just running from an axe) we have found ourselves face down on the floor drooling in a pool of what could possibly be our own blood. This next track joins Theologian and Steve Moore (two artists I’ve featured on the show previously - please do dig back in the archives).
Dinowalrus brings us slowly back to our feet and vaulted a bit up into space.
And finally we end with a serious knock back to earth emblazoned with their stamp on your head (as pictured). This band is heavy and serious. Primitive Weapons. I mean, seriously, PRIMITIVE FUKKIN’ WEAPONS! Check this quick article as well.
