Rundown:

Today’s show features a small family of bands that have semi-recently had to deal with a death.  The drummer of Maserati laid down tracks for a new album, but never got to see its ultimate completion.  Steve Moore of Zombi lent a hand on the album.  We start this week with a recently released track by Mr. Moore.

For more of Moore check out the projects Miracle and Titan. Stellar.

From the Steve Moore track we move onto the title track from the new Maserati album, Pyramid of the Sun.  Here is the last interview done with the full band before Jerry Fuchs’s untimely death:

We next move deeper down the well of obscurity to a couple bands from Los Angeles.  I am fairly certain the degree of my affection for this next act is deeply rooted in my recent constant car ride playlist consisting of solely the collection of music entitled Twitch by Ministry.

The Present Moment actually ranges in styles across the full length, The High Road, available for download here. On this show I play 2 songs from the album (and it’s the only band I’ve played more than one track from this week so you can hear how taken with it I am).

Deathday Party is up next with a track off of their digital release, Ghost Pains. As mentioned in the show I am really hoping it is an off-handed reference to Nick Cave’s Birthday Party.

Next up is Cvlts (perhaps not as mysterious as I may allude in the show) with a track off of their Lvsts release. “CVLTS began as the duo of Gaurav Bashyakarla and Josh Thomas in May of 2010. Their first ever recording session was what eventually became LVST and shortly there after they brought in Brian Shattuck to round the band and move on into live performances.” (Mischka Bloglin)

Kite Club (what I said of mysteriousness about Cvlts goes equally for this band) steps in with a track off of their Goodtime Tea Show digital release available here.

Gary War brings us the next track off of the EP, Police Water.

And we finish this week’s show with a track from Majeure (A.E. Paterra - bandmate of Steve Moore in Zombi) as taken from the album Timespan.

The full detailed playlist with track titles and album information is after the jump.
